Gordon
Heath
September 18, 1932 – September 11, 2023
On September 11, 2023 Gordon Heath, fell asleep in death. He was 90 years old.
Gord was born September 18, 1932 in Card's Harbour to Lewis and Bride Heath. He was the 2nd of 3 children. He married Muriel November 9th 1956.
They had 2 children Dwight (Maria) & Darren (Angie), one granddaughter Lorenda & 2 grandsons Ashton and Beau. His life started off with difficulties. He lost his mother at a very young age. Living in out port Newfoundland, at that time, made getting schooling practically impossible.
Gord never used his situation as an excuse not to learn. He taught himself how to read and at the age of 13 he joined his father as a cook's assistant in a logging camp. From that time with his father, he learned to be a cook and that became his career until he had children. In order to be home with his family he went to work at Home Hardware in Springdale, where he retired.
It was during his time at the logging camps he came in contact with Jehovah's witnesses which lead to a study of the Bible. He was baptized as one of Jehovah witnesses July 14, 1970. He served Jehovah faithfully for over 50 years. He had a regular share in the ministry and always enjoyed talking to people about the bible. He was part of the Springdale congregation until 2003 and then joined the Corner Brook congregation.
Gord was known to be hospitable and enjoyed being with people. He used his skill and love of cooking to entertain others. He always enjoyed a good game of 120's, playing Chinese checkers and reminiscing about olds times over a glass of whiskey with friends. Gord is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Rex and sister Alma. He is survived by his wife Muriel, his 2 sons, granddaughter and 2 great grandsons. He also had numerous Step and ½ brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.
We long for the fulfillment of John 5:28 & 29
"Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out"
