It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Gerald "Gerry" Samson Payne announce his passing at his home in Darthmouth, Nova Scotia, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the age of 70 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and treasured memories, his life partner and best friend:  Brenda Conrod; his loving daughters: Kelly (Les), and Cyndi (Jonathan); his sons: Mark, Micheal (Kim), and Matthew; his grandchildren: Trent (Jessica), Tamara, Gracie, Logan, Willow, and Michael Jr.; great-grandchildren: Elliot and Owen; and his siblings: Keith (Wendy), Bernie (Sue), Selma, and Clarson; as well as many nieces and nephews, and numerous lifelong friends.

Gerald was predeceased by his daughter: Rose Payne; parents: Gerald Sr., and Bertha (nee. Samson); sister: Janice Payne; brother: Dennis Sr. Payne; nephews Dennis Jr. Payne, and Billy Carroll; and nieces: Ashely Payne, and Jen Samson.

Gerald had a love for hunting, fishing, and all sports, especially broomball. He loved being in the woods with his brothers. He could often be found playing scrabble with his mother when he lived in Newfoundland. His sense of humour and love of laughter will be missed beyond measure and forever be remembered by his family and friends.

There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. Details of graveside service will be available at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Gerald's memory to a charity of one's choice.
