Obituary

I would like to express my deep appreciation to those who have offered support, sympathy and comfort to me and our family in our time of bereavement. To the Chemo unit staff, thank-you from the bottom of my heart for the expertise, care and compassion you demonstrated during Jerry's illness and treatment. To the Palliative Care staff, specifically Dr. Lafferty and the palliative care team, a heartfelt thank-you for your expert advice, care and compassion towards Jerry and I during Jerry's illness and passing.  To Tammy with Community Support a very special thank you for the 3 years of continuous nursing care. To our friends and family members who visited and lifted Jerry's spirits, on a daily basis over the past weeks, a heartfelt and grateful thank-you. I would especially like to thank Jerry's beloved son Eddie and his wife Theresa for their steadfast love and overwhelming support during this difficult time. To Jerry's brother Brian a very special thank you for your support and special bond you had with Jerry. I would also like to send out a special thank-you to Jerry's lifelong friend Tony Tavenor for his friendship and guidance during this difficult time. Thank-you to those who attended Jerry's Celebration of Life. I was humbled and overwhelmed by the number of people who attended and by their kind words of love and support. I offer a  sincere thank-you to Jerry's friend Tony Tavenor, and my brother-in-law Clarence Buckle, for their tributes at the celebration as well.   Finally I would like to express my profound gratitude to all those who sent meals, flowers, cards and/or gave any other show of support. I truly appreciated and am thankful for your support during this very difficult time. I have not personally named everyone but please know all of your kindnesses will never be forgotten.

-Elaine O'Keefe and family.

It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald (Jerry) Ralph O'Keefe announce his passing on October 3rd. 2023.

Jerry was a long time Union activist, working with CB Pulp & Paper Mill, a job he held for 41 years. He held positions as an electrician and Instrumentation Technician. This work and his ever-present curiosity gave him skills and knowledge that he constantly employed to help innumerable people and organizations through the years. Whether setting up communications for sporting events, working on computer systems for friends, or just putting his 2 cents worth in to help solve a problem, he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. His interests were varied. From hockey to hunting, from ham radio to history, he delved into many fields with a thirst to learn and help others in these fields.

Anybody who knew Jerry knew his greatest interest was talking to people. He could talk to paupers and princes and relate to them all. He listened to whatever you said with an attentiveness that made you feel you were his number one concern at that moment. Everybody felt comfortable letting him into their confidences.

Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife, Elaine and his children Eddie (Theresa), Joan, Scott (Allyssa), and Krista (Corey). He leaves his much-adored grandchildren Laurance, Elizabeth (Nathan), Xavier, and Lucas. He enjoyed immensely his great grandchildren Sarah and Andre. He is also survived by his siblings Linda (Ray), Diane (Lenny), Sheila (Gary), Maureen (Paul), Brian (Maxine), Carol Ann (Tony), and Bill.

He will also be missed by his In Laws - Linda Vincent (Mother-in-Law), Ron (Joyce), Vincent (Brother-in-Law), and Sisters in law Wanda (Clarence) Buckle and Sherry (Derek) Holwell. He cherished his fur grand babies Angus, Lucy, Jack, and Yoda as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews friends and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Florence O'Keefe and Father-in-Law, Herbert Vincent.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Glynmill Inn on Saturday October 7th from 2 – 4 pm.
