It is with profound sadness the family of the late Gerald "Gerry" Ford announce his sudden passing at the Health Science Centre in St. John's NL. at the age of 69 years, on Thursday January 2nd 2025. Gerry passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him.
Gerry leaves to mourn his partner Marguerite Walsh, Daughter; Jessica (Kyle), Brother; Geoff (Janice); sister: Patsy (Brent). Sister-in-law; Donna Crant (Joe), Robert Walsh, Shelley Walsh (Brian), Roderick Walsh (Trina), John Walsh. Nephew; Adam. Neices; Emma, Sarah, and Charlotte. Gerry is predeceased by his parents; Malcolm and Margaret Ford and his sister, Linda.
Gerry was a life-long learner. He was a geologist and as a second career he taught as a high school teacher. Gerry was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, where he served as the cadet liaison and as the "unofficial photographer." He was also involved with the St. John Ambulance in Corner Brook.
At Gerry's request, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation taking place on Tuesday January 7th 2025 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Country Haven Funeral Home. The Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from Sacred Heart Church in Curling at 10:30AM with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, in lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Gerry's memory to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13 Poppy Trust Fund.
