George Frederick
Sheppard (Card Of Thanks)
December 8, 1938 – March 4, 2025
The family of the late George F. Sheppard would like to extend a very heart felt thank you to our many friends, neighbours, cousins, and other extended family; for all of the phone calls, food, cards, flowers, and moral support that has been offered to us during this very difficult time. A special thank you to the staff of Country Haven Funeral Home, who went above and beyond to help us meet our needs. Thank you to Rev. Cynthia Haines-Turner for the beautiful church service, and to Joyce Perrett for being there as well. To the readers: my sister, Patricia, and to Eddie Joyce, who was a dear friend of George, and my niece and nephew, Tanya and Paul. Thank you to my nephew Sheldon, grand-nephew Alex, and niece Tara, who played a beautiful song during the service. Thank you to Wayne for livestreaming the service for those who were unable to make it. Also, thank you to the A.S.W who served a lovely lunch after the service; and last, but certainly not least, thank you to all the people who made donations in George's memory. I hope I haven't left anyone out, if so, I would like to extend one BIG thank you to every single person who was there.
-Yvonne Sheppard, and family.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Sheppard announce his passing at the Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit, on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025 at the age of 86 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his loving and devoted wife: Yvonne Sheppard (nee. Bourgeois); brothers-in-law: Otto Bourgeois, and Don Bourgeois (Ellie); and his sisters-in-law: Patricia Murphy (Pat), and Catherine Bourgeois (Larry); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his very special friend: Jack Pennell.
George was predeceased by his father: Fred; his mother: Pearl; brother: Jack; and special brother-in-law: Norman "Bud" Bourgeois.
George loved volunteering for charity for most of his life, he also loved sports including golf and Toronto Maple Leafs, and any other form of sports. He retired from the RCMP which gave him more time to volunteer, spend time at the cabin, and the church.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit for their care and support provided to George during his time of need.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation taking place at Country Haven Funeral Home Saturday, March 29th, 2025 from the hours of 2-4 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 3 PM on Sunday, March 30th, 2025 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Curling Street, with Rev. Cynthia Haines Turner officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in George's memory to the St. Mary's Anglican Church fund, or your local SPCA.
