Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George David Ball originally of Burgeo, living in Corner Brook for the past 33 years. He passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family.

George leaves behind his devoted wife, Joan of 61 years. Together they built a life filled with love, family, and many memories. He will be forever cherished by his daughters, Christine (Jim) and Maureen (Tony). He was a proud and loving Poppy to his grandsons, David and Lewis, and his great-granddaughter Madison. He also held a special place in his heart for his niece Ashley.

George will be fondly remembered as a special uncle to Maxine (Ed) and Georganne (Ter), as well as by his many nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends and family whose lives he touched with his kindness, warmth, and sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Annie; his sisters, Elizabeth (Max) and Audrey; his in-laws, James and Hannah Dollimount; his brothers-in-law Sam (Theresa), Kyrl, Jack, Jim, and his sister-in-law Marilyn.

George worked in customs for 34 years and was proud of the years he dedicated to his job. Outside of work, he truly enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time at BIK Lake in the cabin with close friends Clayt and Lin. Those times meant a lot to him. He also enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and playing softball.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Western Memorial Regional Hospital and the Western Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and care during George's final days. At George's request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday February 16, 2026, from the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, Corner Brook from where a funeral service will take place on Tuesday February 17, 2026, at Country Haven Funeral Home's Chapel at 11:00 am with Rev.
