It's with great sadness that the family of the late Frederick Graham Abbott announce his passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Center on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the age of 89 years.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his loving companion: Majorie Vatcher; his children; Sandra (Ken), and Keith; grandchildren: Brandy, Ashley (Max), Christopher, Kianna, and Kaleigh; great-grandchildren: Octavia, Conner, Parker and Amelia; son-in-law; Dwayne; daughter-in-law: Lana; and special friends: Debbie Janes (Gary); as well as his extended relatives, and many friends.
Fred was predeceased by his wife: Linda Abbott; children: Denise, and Clifford; and his parents: Clifford and Muriel Abbott; brothers: Duncan and Claude; and sisters: Lucy, and Ione.
Frederick was born in Pools Island Newfoundland on October 30, 1936 and moved to Happy Valley Goose-Bay, Labrador at the age 17 years. He worked at the Power Plant in Goose-Bay until his retirement at the age of 60 years.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Marj's daughter, Debbie, who was a great support for our dear father over the years. Also, to the doctors' nurses, and staff of the CBLTC, especially nurses: Della, Charmaine, Victoria, and Nancy, for your endless compassion and care shown to Fred during his time of need.
In following his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. Services to be announced at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Fred's memory to your local S.P.C.A.
Afterglow
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering
softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when
life is done.
