Obituary

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Fraser Bennett, who passed suddenly on September 29th, 2025.

He leaves to mourn his devoted wife of 70 years, Hughena; son Scott (Annette) Bennett; cherished granddaughters Rebecca and Vanessa; Brother George Bennett (Darlene); brother-in-law Larry (Myrna) Brown; and sisters-in-law Margaret House and Mary Brown. He is predeceased by his parents Freeman Bennett and Ellen Shears, parents-in-law Fred and Mary Alice Brown; sister Meta (Francis) Toope; brother Ray (Ima) Bennett, sisters-in-law Bernice (Stewart) House and Elaine Bennett and brothers-in-law Bradley House and Adrian Brown.

Fraser was a man defined by hard work, kindness, and quiet strength. For most of his life, he proudly owned and operated his own grocery store in Cow Head, where long days from open to close were the norm. Each customer was greeted with a warm smile, a listening ear, and the kind of service that left a lasting impression.

In retirement, he found joy in the simple pleasures—time in the woods, the rhythm of the saw, and the satisfaction of a well-cut stack of firewood. Yet what gave him the greatest happiness was family. For the past 15 years, he made his home in Corner Brook, where he could watch his granddaughters grow, lend a helping hand to Scott and Annette, and always be nearby when needed. He was especially proud of his only son, Scott. Fraser often spoke of Scott with admiration, grateful for the man he had become and for the life he built with Annette and their girls.

He will be remembered as a man who never hesitated to lend support, who delighted in sharing a story or striking up a little chat, and who lived a life rooted in love, generosity, and devotion to those around him.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are comforted by the countless memories and lasting lessons he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the family he loved so dearly.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Eileen and Judy and all the wonderful staff at the Lohnes Complex for taking such wonderful care of Dad.

In lieu of flowers donations to S.P.C.A. and or a charity of ones choice in Frasers memory would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

The family will be receiving family and friends at Country Haven Funeral Home 167 Country Road, Corner Brook, NL, on Friday October 10th, 2025, from the hours of 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
