Elwood Tucker
(Card Of Thanks)
March 26, 1942 – February 12, 2026
CARD OF THANKS
We knew saying goodbye was always going to be difficult but thanks to the support of all our family and friends and the respectful care of so many doctors and nurses, our stress and grief was made bearable during this very difficult time.
Thank you to Doctor Lethbridge and her staff for the many years of looking after our father. You always treated him like a person and not just a patient and we will forever be grateful to you for that.
Thank you to Dr. Lafferty and the nurses and staff of the palliative care unit. You were always so respectful and made sure our father's comfort and dignity were paramount everyday.
To the staff of Moutainview House, you were a huge part of Dad's life for the past few years and you loved and cared for him like he was your own. Your thoughtful attentiveness always brought us such peace of mind.
Thank you to Rev. Greg Loder, Rev. Terry Loder and Lay Reader Ken Marche for a beautiful service on a very sad day. And to Dwayne Parsons and staff of Country Haven Funeral Home for helping us navigate the many details that come with saying goodbye to a loved one. The work you all did gave us space to grieve.
Finally, thank you to Leonard and Hazel Tucker for the coffee and tea and the many people who donated food and flowers. We all shed many tears over those cups of tea and shared some good memories with something sweet in our bellies. Your kindness made us feel loved and cared for and it will never be forgotten.
There's nothing he couldn't do or fix, and rarely a time he was without a smile, a sweet silvery chuckle, and a warmth that could heat a log cabin. Elwood Tucker was a true jack-of-all-trades, an avid outdoorsman, storyteller, businessman, dancer, lover of all company and times with those closest to him, and, most of all, a man with unwavering support and love for his family.
He passed away quietly, with family by his side, on February 12, 2026.
From his early years in Bellburns to his life in Meadows, Elwood Tucker's dedication to those he loved never waned. He and his beloved Neila built their family on the foundation of love, hard work and generosity, and started their small businesses around the kitchen table.
Their four kids were well-acquainted with all that nature had to offer through camping, canoeing, fishing trips and times at the camp in Clifty Pond. They shared that same quality time with grandchildren, and, later, great-grandchildren, as they built their new home away from home on Deer Lake.
Elwood leaves to mourn his children Anita Wheeler (Robert), Walter (Sheila), Colin (Michelle) and Pamela Wiseman (Sheldon). He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Chérie Wheeler (Troy), Robert Wheeler, Nicholas Tucker (Kayla), Maria Tucker (Chris Shreenan), Lucas Tucker (Preanna Jefferies), Brady Anderson (Cassandra), Courtney Fry (Brad), and Nikita Wiseman. Also mourning are great-grandchildren Samuel, Bridget, Alexis, Dexter, Deja, Grace, Lillian, Reid, Brea, Lawson, Waylon, and Norah. He will be remembered by brother Milton House, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Larry Wickens, Bill Parsons (Marie), Lloyd Parsons (Emma), Garwin Parsons (Stella), Geraldine Collins, Shirley Pinksen (Eric), Kevin Parsons (Colleen), Tom Parsons (Josephine), Marlene Curlew (Bruce), Christina Parsons, Daphne MacDonald (Reg) and Ron Parsons (Pam).
Also in mourning are special family members Fred and Alma Lewis, as well as a large family of nieces and nephews.
Elwood is predeceased by Neila, his wife of 61 years, grandson Shannon Tucker; parents Leslie and Stella House, father- and mother-in-law, Henry and Amy Parsons, sisters Laura Biggin, Eliza Bragg and Rowena Wickens, brother Albert House, brothers-in-law Gordon Bragg and Dan Collins and sisters-in-law Eudora Parsons and Maxine House.
The family would like to express a big thank you to Dr. Lafferty and Dr. Lethbridge and the Nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit for taking such good care of Elwood during his stay.
Friends are welcome to visit the Anglican church in Meadows on Sunday, February 15th from the hours of 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00.
The funeral service will take place Monday, February 16th at 2:00 at the Anglican Church in Meadows. Interment at a later date. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in Elwood's memory to a charity of one's choice.
