Eliza Marie Hann

Eliza, affectionately known as Nanny Twit to many, passed peacefully at the Palliative Care unit August 20, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Eliza was predeceased by her loving husband, Brazil, beloved son, Randy, parents: Meshach and Nellie, parents-in-laws, William and Jessie. Her sibling: Chattie (Arch) and Daisy (Hill) and her siblings-in-law: Ormsby (Mame), Jim (Hazel), Marie (Roderick), Franklyn (Madonna), Jean (Albert) and Bill.

Eliza was the youngest of 3 girls, born in Howley and later the family settled in Summerside when she was quite young. She fell in love with Brazil married January 27, 1953 and with that, Eliza became part of the big Hann family.

She loved to laugh and have loads of fun, especially playing cards and darts. She spent countless hours knitting the best mitts and socks and handcrafting the most beautiful quilts.

Eliza had a lifelong love of horses and was especially proud to have owned her own in her younger years. She also loved fishing, spending many, many happy hours at the Falls into Frenchman’s Pond. In more recent years, she found another special place at Pirate Pond, where she enjoyed plenty of laughter, good company, and, of course, many games of cards, her favourite being Passed the Ace.

Left to forever cherish her memory are her children: Sterling (Regina) and Cindy (Brad), her grandchildren: Deanna, Lorie (Rhéal), Randy (Sheila), Jason (April), Wayne, Janice Rose (Chance) and Jillian (John). Great-grandchildren; Jacob and Jordyn, Eric, Ethan and Taliyah, Riley and Ryder, Scarlett, Jaxen, Jaylen, Alyssa, Jacob and Logan. Her sibling-in-laws: Maxine, Joan (George), Fern (Son), Victor (Nancy), Eileen (Lawrence), and Marcy (Tex), many nieces and nephews, her special little friend Laurina and her parents, Larry and Regina Warren, and her Loder family who held a special place in her heart.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the paramedics and first responders the HIS Fire Department, for their care and compassion, to Dr. Fola, Lori, and the staff at Broadway Family Clinic for the care and support they provided over the years, and to Dr. Nicola Penney and the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit who cared for Eliza with such kindness, dignity, and compassion during her final journey. Your gentle hands, comforting words, and genuine care for both Eliza and her family will never be forgotten. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rev. Terry Loder for his prayers, comforting presence, and unwavering support throughout Eliza’s journey. We will be forever grateful to each of you for helping make her final days as peaceful and comfortable as possible.

Eliza leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and a family who will miss her more than words can say. Her kindness, her sense of humour, and the many things she made with her own hands will be treasured for generations to come. While our hearts are broken to say goodbye, we are so grateful for the years, the stories, the laughter, and the love we shared with our Nanny Twit. She will be loved, remembered, and deeply missed—always.

There will be a visitation taking place for family and friends on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Summerside, from the hours of 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM on Monday, August 24th, 2026 with Rev.
