On behalf of Betty, we, Debbie, Barry, and Donna would like to thank all who phoned, visitied, sent cards, messages of condolences, and food during our recent loss.  Thank-you to those who sent flowers and donations in his memory.  I'm sure dad (Derrick) would be honoured to know that so many people thought so fondly of him.  We will miss him greatly.  Special thanks to Mountview House for keeping him as comfortable as possible during his short stay. To the staff of 2N LTC, thank-you for doing your best. You deserve medals.  Thank-you to country haven for your professionalism and for honouring dad the way you did.  We would be remiss if we forgot to thank his grandsons and nephew for carrying him to his final resting place. From the bottom of our hearts, thank-you.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Derrick Jeffrey Brake announce his passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care on September 15 ^th , 2022 in his 83 ^nd year. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 62 years, Betty; his beloved children: Debbie (Melvin) Sears, Barry (Cynthia) Brake, and Donna Brake Baldwin. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Chantelle Sears, Sherwin (Lynette) Sears, Elizabeth Sears (Kyle Price), Tyler Brake, Candace (Colin) Kostenuk, Stacey (Karen) Brake, Parker Brake (Trinity Sears), Stefany Adams (Lance Rees), Benjamin (Siobhan) Adams, and Jack Baldwin; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Keira, Max, Raya, Theo, Kyler, Haley, Henry, Lydia, Julia, and Owen; his siblings: Nina (Ted) Swyers, Rhoda (Ross) Oldford, Betty Sheppard, Eldon, Glendon, Christine, Daniel, David, and Ted. Derrick is predeceased by his infant son, John; birth parents, Henry and Hazel Brake; adoptive parents, John and Hazel Earle; sisters, Ula and Flora; and brother, Sonny. He also leaves to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 20 ^th , and Wednesday, September 21 ^st , at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 22 ^nd , at 2 PM in the Country Haven Chapel with Charles O'Regan and Steve Shultz officiating. Interment to follow at the cemetery on Batstone's Road in Corner Brook. Flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Derricks memory, as Derrick had so much love for children.
