It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dermont "Derm" Buffett announce his passing at the Western Long Term-Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the age of 62 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sisters: Lorraine (Dave), Rubina, and Margaret (Gil); brothers: Thomas (Olive), and Kerry (Mike); sisters-in-law: Veronica Buffett; his special niece and caregiver: Angela Parsons (Scott); and his good friends; Bradley and Charlotte Park; as well as a large circle of other nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

Derm was predeceased by his parents: Thomas and Alfreda Buffett; grandparents: George and Eliza Cox; brother; George; his nephew; Tommy; and sister-in-law: Susan Buffett.

Derm grew up in Cox's Cove and spent his whole life there. Derm enjoyed playing darts and was part of the dart league in Cox's Cove where he had many friends. Derm also enjoyed his daily walks to the fish plant where he would enjoy his talks with his buddies that worked there. Derm absolutely adored his great-niece Paisley, who was so special to him. He also enjoyed listening to music, mainly Newfoundland artists, and country music. Derm loved watching movies and enjoyed and spent a lot of time doing so at his sisters.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Western Long Term-Palliative Care Unit for their outstanding care and compassion; and to the nurses of the 4th Floor-WMRH, who took such wonderful care of Derm during his stay.

There will be a visitation taking place for family and friends at the St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Cox's Cove, on Friday, February 20, 2026 from the hours of 7-9 PM, and on Saturday February 21, 2026 from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place at 2 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2026 with Rev. Terry Loder officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Cox's Cove. As expressions of sympathy, a donation can be made in Derm's memory to a charity of one's choice.
