Debra Colleen
Chamaa (Nee Quinton)
April 21, 1962 – April 19, 2026
"Say not in grief 'she is no more,' but live in thankfulness that she was."
It is with heavy hearts, (but many happy memories), that the Quinton family announces the passing of our dear sister Debbie, on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, at Trillium Health Partners - Mississauga Hospital, Ontario
We find comfort in knowing that Debbie was not alone. Her siblings visited her bedside every day. Our niece Jody, who is a nurse, was able to provide transparency to the family by giving informed updates of what Debbie’s needs were during her final days. Debbie’s beloved cat, Cleopatra (Cleo), was brought in for a final visit and to sit with her one last time.
On her final day, at her bedside were her brother Derek; her sisters Karen (Toots) & Marge; and her niece Debbie (Little Debbie). Her favourite music was played, written and recorded messages from family and friends were shared with her. We also find comfort in knowing that mom and dad were watching over her and waiting with open arms to welcome her home.
She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: 8 Brothers: Peter of Ontario, Gary (Val) of Corner Brook, Lloyd (Wanda) of Nova Scotia, Byron (Arthur) of Australia, Derek of Ontario, Jeff (Claudia) of Texas, Rob (Vicki) of Corner Brook and Craig (Yvonne) of Corner Brook.
6 Sisters: Karen Bennett of Ontario, Marjorie Buckland (Yvon) of Ontario, Gloria Jones of Alberta, Gaye Kubicz of Corner Brook, Cynthia Burke (John) Arizona, and Vicki Feener (Dean) of Georgia.
Also left to mourn are Aunt Effie Quinton of Corner Brook, Uncle Gary Lemoine (Trish) of Calgary, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and her beloved cat Cleo.
She is also remembered by Rachel Hyndman, a special friend and neighbour for many years, her dear and close friends Kathy, Sheila, Beverly, Helen, Kathy Hann – Sweet and Cindy Abbott.
Debbie was predeceased by her Parents, Lloyd & Rowena Quinton; her Grandparents, Levi & Meriam Quinton and Henry Halvorsen & Marjorie Stewart (nee Halvorsen); and her beloved dog Tobi.
The family gratefully acknowledges and extends sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital ICU, for the compassion, care and support provided to our sister Debbie and our family. We would also like to thank Jenny Damanie Somwaru of Trillium Health Partners for her support.
As per Debbie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private internment will take place at a later date. As Debbie was an animal lover, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to your local SPCA.
Debbie was a bright light and taught us all about love & kindness. Her final act of kindness was to give the “gift of life”. Please consider honouring Debbie by continuing to shine her light and sign your donor card.
