Obituary

The family of the late Craig Pilgrim would like to express our sincere appreciation for the support and kindness that we have received during this very difficult time. Your support has been a great comfort to our family.

To Dr. Chris Whitten, whose care and compassion went above and beyond, we cannot thank you enough. To Dr. Park, Dr. Dunne, the Cancer Clinic nurses, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Palliative Care Unit, you were outstanding with your sincere support, care, knowledge, and professionalism toward Craig and our family. A very special thank you to your team.

To our family and friends who travelled to be with us during Craig's final days, thank you for surrounding us with love during such a difficult time. There are not enough words to fully express our heartfelt thanks. We are also deeply grateful for each of you who have reached out, offered your sympathy, delivered meals to our door, or have simply been there to hold us up.

Lastly, thank you to Dwayne and Chelsea at Country Haven. Your kindness and compassion were a great comfort to us.

A celebration of Craig's extraordinary life will be held at Blomidon Golf & Country Club on Saturday, October 18 from 1:00-4:00pm. We welcome all to share your stories and memories of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

With love and our deepest gratitude, Wendy, Luke, Jill, Megan and Sylvie.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Craig Pilgrim announce his passing on September 25, 2025, after a brief illness, at the age of 61.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories the love of his life and wife of 37 years, Wendy; his children he was so proud of, Luke and Jill; daughter-by-marriage, Megan Shea; precious granddaughter, Sylvie; sisters, Carolyn (Leaton Compton) and Karla; brother, Peter; mother-in-law, Edith Stead; sister-in-law Florence (Rick); brothers-in-law, Eugene (Kay), Terry (Nancy), Dean (Louise), and Craig; and a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family, neighbours and friends.

Craig was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Muriel; father-in-law, Alonzo Stead; and uncles George, Junior, and Earl.

A dedicated public servant, Craig spent 30 years working for the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in St. John's, Labrador City, and Corner Brook but always considered Roddickton and the Great Northern Peninsula his home. During his time in the RNC, he was honoured with recognition as a finalist for Police Officer of the Year, received a medal for 20 years of exemplary service, and was well known for his dedication to volunteerism within the community. Not a man known to be idle, after concluding his career with the RNC he spent another 10 years working with the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation. Outside of work, Craig could often be found at the Blomidon Golf Club, spending time with his family, speed-walking around Corner Brook, reading a novel, out around his shed, or hosting and feeding anybody who would drop by.

Honouring his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or formal service at this time. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local food bank or to another charity of your choice.
