Obituary

We, the family of the late Clyde Augustus Reid, would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped us during his illness and since his passing.

A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of both 5A of the Cardiac Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital and the Western Long-Term Palliative Care unit, for taking such good care of Clyde during his stay. Your kindness and compassion were very comforting to him and to us. We also appreciated his relatives and friends who took the time to visit him in the hospital. Special thanks to Archdeacon Charlene Laing for your visits and prayers with us at the hospital.

Thank you to Dwayne Parsons and the staff at Country Haven Funeral Home for all of your help and guidance. We thank everyone who attended the visitations as well as the funeral service at the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd in Norris Point. We are very grateful to those who took part in the service: Reverend Wilhelmena Green, Archdeacon Laing, Glenda Bavis for your reading, Susan Reid and Tom Hiscock for the beautiful music, and the pallbearers: Joe Reid, Faron Knott, Melvin Reid, Wilfred Reid, Walter Reid and Darren Reid.

Thank you for the gifts of food and to the Gros Morne Seniors 50+ Club for hosting the reception after the service.

We are comforted by the many flowers, cards, messages and donations made in Clyde's memory. Every act of kindness was a great help to us at such a difficult time.

-Clyde Reid Jr. and Helen Reid

It's with heavy hearts that the family of the late Clyde Augustus Reid announces his passing on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit at the age of 91.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his son Clyde (Helen) of Ottawa, ON, his step-children Clarence, Jean (Guy), Ivy, Rhodena, Varrick (Linda), Eileen (Tom), Myron (Shirley), Deyon (Garrie), Debbie (Dan), and Connie (Hughie), his sister Melissa Smith, his brother-in-law Calvin Payne, and sisters-in-law Charlotte Reid and Anna Reid. He also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.

Clyde was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Ellen (Bessie) (Noseworthy), his partner Dorcas Sheppard, his parents Theodosia and John Charles Reid, his sisters Lucy (Simeon) and Gladys, his brothers Eric (Mary), Henry (Annie), Charles, and Walter, his brothers-in-law Donald Smith and Eric (Alma) Noseworthy.

Clyde was born and raised in Norris Point, NL. He and Mom moved backed to Corner Brook in 1966 where he remained until his passing. He worked hard to provide and care for the family he loved. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time outdoors: working around his house or cabin, hunting, fishing, growing vegetables or picking berries. He continued to grow vegetables and berries until last fall.

He will be forever remembered for his easy-going and pleasant manner.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Cardiac Unit and Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and compassion shown to Dad during his time of need.

Also, we are forever grateful to everyone who sent messages, called, and visited Dad in the hospital.

There will be a visitation at Country Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday January 27, 2026 from the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm, visitation will continue at the Anglican Church of The Good Shepherd Norris Point on Wednesday January 28, 2026 from the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm from where a funeral service will take place on Thursday at the Anglican Church of The Good Shepherd at 1:00 pm with Rev Wilhelmina Green officiating.
