It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clara Ellen Hickey (nee: Boland) in her 93rd year on Saturday, April 7th, 2018. She was surrounded by her family and friends at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her children: Lester (Loretta), Hilda Donahue (Tony), Rosella O'Connell (Pat), Lloyd (Grace), Chris (Connie), Brian, Clayton (Julie), Carolyn Lodge (Blair); daughter-in-law Maureen Hickey; son-in-law Ross Abbott; brother Jim Boland (Bride); and a large circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by husband William Hickey; children Cyril, Bill, Howard, and Philomena. A special thank-you to her home care workers Julie O'Connell and Linda Heath. Thank you to Dr. Margaret Culleton for the care Clara received over the many years she was her patient. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, April 9th and Tuesday, April 10th between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 at 10:30 am from Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Benoit's Cove with Father Robertson officiating. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted and/or memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. The family guest book may be signed by visiting www.country-haven.ca. Love is the most beautiful gift in the world. Clara often said, "I have so much love for everyone". She gave the gift of love to her family and friends everyday of her life.
