Blanchard
June 23, 1958 – April 7, 2026
It is with profound sadness (but many happy memories), we announce the peaceful passing of Christine Effie Blanchard on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026 at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Long Term Care.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Brian. Children: Nancy (Ellis), Patti, Tom (Michelle), Inez (Kris) and Mike (Charlene). Grandchildren: Sasha (Keith), Martin (Sheena), Shawn, Shannon (Lizabeth), Robert (Alexandra), Austin (Kelly), Rebecca (Andrew), Summer (Graydon), Madison (Justin), Amber, Aaron (Chloe), Alisha, Brittany, John, Brantley, Brandon, Meghan, Logan and Colton. Great Grandchildren: Jacob, Aliyah, Ava, David, Blake, Devin, Saylor, Sophia, Weston and Baby Boy Andrews (who she was so excited to meet). Her brothers: Glendon, Eldon (Joy), Danny, David, and Ted (Julie). Brothers and Sisters in Law: Janet, Ethel (David), Tony (Rita), Dinah, Poppy and Pauline. Special Friends Carol and Harley, Along with a great circle of nieces, nephews and a tremendous amount of friends.
Christine was predeceased by her parents: Henry and Eileen Brake; Siblings: Flora (David) and Sonny (Elizabeth). Parents in Law: Mike and Melissa Blanchard; Brothers in Law: Patrick, Myles, Michael and John; Sisters in Law: Faith and Eva; Son in Law: David; Granddaughter, Erica and Great Grandson, Alexander.
She remained active well into her later years: going to bingo and scat, helping in the Seniors Club and many drives with Brian in their antique cars. Her greatest joy was to have the house full of family and friends for a meal.
The family gratefully acknowledges Dr. Penney, Dr. Ryan, and the staff of Western Memorial for their compassion throughout her illness. We would also like to thank Brooklynn Parsons for the care shown to her over the last year.
There will be a visitation from the hours of 2-4 / 7-9 PM (with a prayer service at 8PM) at St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Cox's Cove NL. on Saturday April 11, 2026 with Rev. Terry Loder officiating. No flowers by request, instead a donation in her memory can be made to a charity of one's choice.
