Charlotte Julia McWilliam

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charlotte Julia McWilliam (nee. Arnold) announce her peaceful passing on July 28th, 2026 at the Corner Brook Long-Term Care Center, just five days before her 91st birthday. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her daughter: Shelley Cassidy (Gregory); grandchildren: Matthew (Sonya), Phillip, and Ashleigh (Peter); great-grandchildren: Seth, Natalie, and Johnny; and siblings: Connie Whittle, and George Arnold; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband: Donald Keith McWilliam; parents: John and Kathleen Arnold; and siblings: John Arnold, Lawrence Arnold, and Joan Fowler.

Charlotte was born on August 3rd, 1935 in New York, USA, to her parents John and Kathleen Arnold. At a very young age, Charlotte and her family relocated to Nova Scotia. It was here where Charlotte would meet and marry her beloved husband, Donnie, and go on to welcome their only child, Shelley. Charlotte spent the majority of her life living and working in Truro, Nova Scotia. She dedicated many years to the Stanfield’s Factory where she held the role of a seamstress. She also went on to complete her training to become an LPN. Charlotte was the pillar in her family - the glue, and the backbone. She absolutely loved a good game of bingo, a game of cards, or even a good crossword. Before Charlottes health began to decline, you could always find her at her favourite spot – at the cabin that she and Donnie built together in Wentworth Valley, overlooking the tranquil scenery. Charlottes pride and joy was her family, and loved nothing more than the quality time spent together. She adored her grandchildren, and was so proud to be promoted to great-gram. Charlotte will forever be loved, and will always be missed.

In following her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. A burial will take place in Nova Scotia at a later date, where Charlotte will be laid to rest with her dear husband. As expressions of sympathy, a donation can be made in Charlotte’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.

The family wishes to extend a heart felt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Corner Brook Long-Term Care Center for their kindness and compassion shown to our loved one during her stay, and time of need.
