Obituary

Three years ago, during the height of the pandemic, our world became a sad place as we announced with deep regret, and sorrow, the passing of our beautiful momma at the age of 91. Now, it is time to honor her wishes with a proper funeral mass and burial service.

Kay was born and raised in a large, and loving family in Pasadena, NL. She began her career at Bowater's in Corner Brook, where she met her handsome husband, Harry. Kay took time off to raise her four children and was dedicated to being a loving wife and mother. Returning to work years later after the family moved to Stephenville, she became the Admitting Officer at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 1994.

Kay was a fiercely independent woman and a warrior for her family and friends, as well as various causes and charities. She made a lifetime commitment as a volunteer, holding numerous positions over the years (President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer) for the Stephenville Seniors Club and the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Auxiliary, where she received a Life Membership recognizing her service. Much of her time was spent baking, cooking, selling tickets, and helping prepare for teas, dinners, dances, and other functions – all in an effort to raise money for her charities. She visited the sick on special occasions and never missed a Sunday working at the gift shop in the hospital. She was a selfless volunteer who served her community well.

Kay was an honoured wife and mother, beloved sister, aunt, and loyal friend to many. She was predeceased by her husband Harry, and son Rod; her parents John and Nora Turner; brothers Andrew, Gus, and Jim; sisters Jean and Chris; and later, brother Gerald and sister Marie.

Left to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her three daughters Deb (Dwayne) Edmonton, Rhonda (Gary) Stephenville and Michelle (Mike) Halifax; special daughter-in-law Nioma (Pasadena); grandchildren Leann (Rob), and Mandy (Calgary), and Ryan (Stephenville); great-grandchildren Matthew, Olivia, and Sophia all of Calgary; sisters Marg, Lily, and Bonnie; brothers Cyril, and Tom; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

The family invites you to a visitation on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from the hours of 7-9 PM at the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Pasadena, NL from where the funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery, where Kay and her beloved son Roddy (deceased 2003) will be laid to rest.

"She gave with all she had. We mourn with all we are."
