Byron Baxter
Hutchings
September 17, 1972 – March 6, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we the family, announce the sudden passing of our dear loved one, Byron Baxter Hutchings at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on March 6th, 2025 at the age of only 52 years.
Byron will be lovingly remembered by his spouse of 36 years: Tanya Payne, with whom he shared a deep and loving bond; children: Kaley Hutchings (Ethan), and Jayden Hutchings, who were his whole world. Every decision Byron made, every sacrifice, and every ounce of love he had was poured into his children. He was their protector, their biggest supporter, and the foundation of their lives. His love for them was endless, and his pride for them immeasurable.
Byron will also be dearly missed by his mother: Phyllis Hutchings; brother: Boyd Hutchings (Marla); his uncles: Terry Hutchings, Harold Hutchings (Susanne), and Frank Hutchings (Lorraine); mother-in-law: Lorna Payne; father-in-law: Willis Payne; sister-in-law: Deborah Lacey (Mark), and Erica Bennett (Garrette); nieces and nephews: Lacey, Kaitlyn, Byron, Brandon, Kyle, Kyler, and Landon.
Byron was predeceased by his father: Baxter Hutchings; grandparents: Esme and Howard Verge, and Rita and Eugene Hutchings.
Originally from Cow Head, he made Corner Brook his home where he built a life filled with love, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to his family. Byron found joy in the simple pleasures in life. As an avid Toronto Maple Leafs Fan, he always held hope for that long-awaited cup win. He enjoyed his night shifts spent with his work family, finding camaraderie and comfort in their company. He also cherished the comfort of a strong drink of Old Sam rum, and the peacefulness of long drives with his daughter, Kaley, with a coffee always in hand. The bond they shared was enriched by dreams of travel, tasting different foods, and experimenting with new recipes. Byron's laughter echoed through his home as he watched his favourite Youtuber's Randy Santel and Crazy Quady. He also treasured his many evenings chatting with Jayden, bonding over video games and BB guns. These moments, filled with laughter and shared interests, were the heart of what made life special for Byron. Byron was known for his warm heart and ability to make those around him feel truly seen and valued. He touched the lives of many during his short time on this earth. He had a way of making people laugh even on their hardest days and offering comfort without needing to say a word.
Though our hearts are broken, we take solace in knowing that Byron's love and spirit will live on through Tanya, Kaley, and Jayden, and the countless memories we hold dear. Byron was a father, son, brother, spouse, friend, and a truly special soul who will be missed beyond measure.
There will be visitations taking place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Sunday, March 9th, 2025, and Monday March 10th, 2025 from the hours of 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM. Cremation to follow. There will be no formal funeral service at this time. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, the family ask that you hold your loved ones close, and share a story or a smile in Byron's memory – just as he would have wanted.
