September 28, 1964 – March 14, 2022
Heaven became a little brighter today, as our shining star entered the gates of his new home. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Benjamin Martin Gillingham announce his peaceful passing on March 14 th , 2022 with his loving wife, Audrey, of 31 years by his side. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his children: Julie (Max) and Cole; his mother Loretta; Brothers: Reg (Darlene) and Elliott (Natasha); Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Rita (Claude) Tucker, Eleanor Young, Gladys (Nish) Lee, Sandra Reid, Faye Raike, and Phillip (Bella) Young; and Pop's 3 greatest loves, his boys, Cooper, Carter, and Cade. Also left to mourn are a large circle of extended family members, friends, and coworkers who all made a great impact on his life. Benjamin is predeceased by his father, Benjamin Gillingham; step-father, Eric Brake; Grandparents: James and Elsie Gillingham, and Reginald and Martha Barnes; Father and Mother-in-law: Aubrey and Marie Young; Brothers-in-law: Richard Young and James Raike, who are all waiting at the gates of heaven with open arms. Ben, was known for the gracious lending of his hard-working hands, his love for his family, as well as the Montreal Canadiens. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Brampton Civic Hospital. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
Visitation will take place at St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Cox's Cove, NL on Sunday, March 20th, 2022 from the hours of 2PM-4PM & 7PM-9PM; from where a funeral service will take place on Monday, March 21st, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Paulette Bugden officitating; interment to take place following the funeral service. It is requested that everyone attending the funeral, please wear a mask.
