Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Anthony (Tony) Pye, announces his passing at Western Long Term Palliative Care unit on September 2 nd , 2021, at the age of 65 years. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories; his beloved wife Josephine of 41 years; his children, Dion (Neilly), Jordan (Chloe) and Jeremy (Sarah); his precious grandchildren that he adored, Blake, Lucas, Rowan and Clara; his siblings, Laura (Stewart) of Lodge Bay, NL, Malcolm (Verna) of Lodge Bay, NL, Hazel (Heber) of Corner Brook, NL, Christopher (Rita), of Mount Moriah, NL, Philip (Judy), of St. Lewis, Labrador; Sisters and brothers in law, Laura, Joy (Ron) Greene, Dorothy Jones, Dawn (Doug) Ayres and Joe (Donna) Jones; As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil Pye (Sept 1984) and Viola Pye (Dec. 1984), both of Cape St. Charles, Labrador; brother, John Pye (May 2021), Mount Moriah, niece, Tammy Bursey (Dec. 2007), Ontario, Mother and Father-in-law, Kevin and Doris Jones, nephew Kevin and niece Mary Fay.

Tony was a very avid salmon fisherman, that fished many salmon rivers, but his favourite was Portland Creek. He had a heart of gold and made friends instantly, in telling many jokes and lifelong stories, especially about his homeland, "The Big Land", Labrador. He was very musically talented, in playing the accordion and the guitar, in which Josephine always joined him, in singing. Tony retired from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper, after 42 years.

As per Tony's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private, family and close friends visitation held at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 6 th , 2021 at 1:00 PM, from where a funeral service will take place at 2:30 PM, with Father Jim Robertson officiating. Interment to follow at Our Lady Star of the Sea Cemetery, Benoit's Cove, NL. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a memorial donation to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit, Western Long Term, Corner Brook, NL.

The family would like to send a sincere thank you to the nurses and doctors of the Western Long Term Palliative Care Unit, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff of the 3rd Floor, Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
