It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alexander “Sandy” Joseph MacRae announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, November 1st, 2026 at the age of 80 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his three sons: Rick (Stephanie), Randy, and Colin (Sheri); many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; his siblings: Danny, Marion, Mary, Brenda, Isabel, Alfred, Louise, and Steve; sisters-in-law: Marion, and Nancy; and brother-in-law: Bill; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Sandy was predeceased by his wife of 60 years: Georgina “Jean”; son: Darrin; brother: John; his parents: Alexander and Frances MacRae; and siblings: Libby, John, and Billy.

Sandy was well known as a hardworking go-getter who did everything and anything he could for his family. With a life full of adventures, he always had a tale or two to tell, that would totally captivate whoever listened.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the WMRH-ICU for the care and comfort provided to Sandy during his time of need. Especially Cody, for his endless support.

In following Sandy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Sandy’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
